The challenge

The IMF’s Spring Meeting is one of the most important events in the business and financial media’s calendar. For the meeting in April 2021, our teams were commissioned to help increase engagement with stories and content, especially in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The method

Each key event was promoted in advance to the media. Key stories were positioned in prime places on thenewsmarket.com. Every story was pushed on our social media channels and news alerts were issued to our global network of journalists. A targeted MR campaign was carried out during the meeting. For the first time, the IMF’s Global Economic Outlook press conference was streamed live on our site.

The outcome

Increased engagement with stories and content compared to previous Spring and Autumn IMF meetings. In line with the brief, India and China were in the top four counties for views and India and Nigeria were in the top four countries for media downloads.
